Flaunting It with Consistency

Examples of graduation-appropriate looks.

Mass Appeal Magazine’s focus is on discipline for the month of June. However, we are not looking at the side of discipline that may be fearful of, but rather the side that uplifts those who practice it. Discipline is about honoring ourselves—our minds, bodies, and time.

A great way to implement discipline from the inside can be taking care of the outside. Sometimes reaching the right goal is all about reaching for the right outfit. And two people who can help with this search are soccer legend David Beckham, and actress, Blake Lively. In ‘Style Icon,’ Kate Smith applauds their dedication to a chic look, whether on the red carpet or walking around town with their kids.

Christopher John Rogers is a designer whose name and eponymous brand are becoming just as high-profile as Beckham and Lively. A professor of fashion at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), Keith Fraley, walks us through Rogers’ distinct approaches to fashion and the discipline he utilizes to maintain ethical practices in ‘Atelier.’

Dressing well is not reserved for the gowns of Rogers, though, but also for the man about town and in the office. In June’s ‘Grooming Lounge,’ John Smith offers numerous tricks for men trying to keep it classy in 2023, even down to the accessories and colors.

And if the desired look is all one color, consult our ‘Threads’ piece written by Jamie Irwin, who shares tips for achieving a monochromatic look. Whether a neutral or a bold one, Irwin is here to help.

Speaking of class, it may be past graduation week for the graduates in your life, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared for the next ceremony. ‘Dress Code’ is written by Eric Jones, who notes the best brands, styles, and fabrics to wear while taking as many photos as possible while cheering loudly. It took discipline for that graduate to be there; you should show them the respect they deserve on their big day.
