Talk it through with the right flow. Communication is vital in our day to day. It’s crucial at workplaces, places we call home, restaurants, the list goes on. This is why Mass Appeal Magazine underlines its importance so often. Follow the advice of our May 2024 writers. Speak, write and type with rhythm. Find the flow in your voice. 

It’s All In The Story 

To start, Collin Schuck helps us with perspective. Schuck wants readers to hone their writing skills, specifically their voices. There are so many ways to explore style as ‘Paper’ shows. Since there are so many people, they can mix and match styles to adhere to their unique voice. Write in your own flow. 

Online mediums require certain storytelling as well. ‘Social Networth’ is led by Ken Morris. He shows how to display proper branding for a person or company on social media. Morris himself is a Los Angeles producer specializing in short form branded content. He’s produced over 150 videos for companies like Wells Fargo, Netflix, Toyota, and Nike, etc. Instagram can be a chance to remain authentic. Try it out. 

Then comes ‘Buzz.’ Public relations is all about pivoting the story. PR firm owner, Jennifer Thomas takes the reins here. Whether it is a small or large message, every executive or brand has a story to tell. Thomas wants us to steer clear of AI too. Find the human in the story. 

Communication Flow 

Furthermore, Niki Norlock keeps us listening. “The noise is where I thrive,” Norlock writes in May’s ‘Noise.’ Noting the diversity of voices is what keeps us in check. Honor the communication styles of others. Respect your own opinion. Don’t drown it all out. 

There is an art to small talk. What appears to be simple is actually quite complex. Chris Gillis provides insight onto this medium in ‘Fuse.’ Gillis details various small talk questions and whether or not to ask them. Be mindful for a successful conversation. Effective communication can even happen among strangers. 

Lastly, ‘Body Talk’ directs us to the hands. Tiffany Lei shows readers how to communicate with hand gestures. Be purposeful and use moderately. The manual flow will shine through.
