Another year is another gift. As the final month of the year, December is a great reminder of this fact. End the year with some wisdom. Create your own master plan. Gain inspiration from this month’s contributors. Their stories surround the themes of the season: food, family and snow. Whether the holidays are a cheerful or painful time for you, Mass Appeal Magazine has you covered.  

The Gift of Food 

To begin, Marc Renson celebrates muffins. In ‘Arrested Development,’ the restaurant owner details the ups and downs of the business. The ups included celebrities frequenting his Upstate New York restaurant. Meanwhile, a big low of his was universal: the impact of COVID-19. And the muffins saved him. Renson’s ‘Boozy Muffins’ gained a major following during 2020, reigniting his life. And yes, the treats do come in holiday flavors, so take note for a special gift.  

The flipside of food is explored in ‘I Can.’ After navigating over 200 food intolerances and allergies, Kathlena found peace. She launched a bakery and community to bring awareness to this ‘invisible disability.’ The only way to move forward is to educate and learn. 

Family Time 

It’s not the holiday season without the mention of family. Jan Stewart shares her story in ‘A Thin Line.’ Stewart not only navigated her own personal health struggles, but difficulties with her children. Growth is not always linear. Make time for family and yourself equally.  

Continue on with Emily Katz in ‘Blueprint.’ After a difficult early adulthood, Katz altered the trajectory of her life. As she fostered a more holistic lifestyle, everything fell into place. Self-love tends to ignite love from others. And as Katz grew her family, her work grew too.  

Snow Day 

Now, we end our Master Plan features with snow. Our ‘Art of the Game’ contributor is Yulin Olliver. A sports agent and former professional snowboarder, Olliver details her career. Her love of snowboarding brought her to the world of sports broadcasting onto agent work. Her story proves passion is all-powerful.
