Mitigating Barriers

Students with disabilities graduate at lower rates than their non-disabled peers. In the article “Mitigating Barriers,” Melissa Rowe, a special education teacher, explores the possibilities of how education inequality in school leads to an imbalance in other areas of life for people with disabilities. In this issue of “925,” our goal is to explore how mitigating these barriers encourage more students with disabilities to attend college to obtain degrees that will help them improve their opportunities in the workforce.

“For many students, the standards in the special education classes are far too low, and the students feel the courses are a waste of their time.”
